Purpose
To offer participants an opportunity to meditate on Jesus' statement, "It Is Finished."
Materials Needed
- Magnetic "word blocks"
- A metal board or sheet to mount the words.
- A cross, made out of thin paper, that fits the board or sheet.
- A print out of John 19:28 - 30.
- Various lights and candles.
- Decorations that image the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.
Setup
- Place the cross on the metal sheet or board and place it on the table.
- Set the magnetic "word blocks" around the cross, perhaps arranged in various categories (verbs, nouns, pronouns, etc.).
- Mount the print-out of John 19 in a place that will be easily readable by participants.
- Place that lights and other decorations around the board or
sheet, making sure it provides enough light to easily read the "word
blocks."
Practice
- Encourage participants to read 1 John 19:28-30 and meditate on the other images of sacrifice.
- After reading and meditating on the images before them,
participants are encouraged to arrange the word blocks in a phrase or
sentence that captures the idea of Jesus' finished work for them.
