Purpose: To remind worshipers about the promise of new life - which we enter into through baptism.
Materials Needed:
- A slide-show consisting using images of caterpillers, cocoons,
and butterflies to illustrate images of new life. On the slides
are Rom 6:3, Rom 6:4a, and Rom 6:4b.
- A print-out of Romans 6:4
- A "chain" of paper links, black on the outside and on the
inside the sentence, "Jesus, you pass through death into life for us..."
- Glue Sticks
- 8 1/2 x 11 Paper Sheets with "New Life" printed at the top.
Practice:
- Have people view the entire slide presentation, reflecting on how
the images help to describe the reality of being "buried with Christ."
- After viewing the presentation, worshipers will tear off one of
the links of the "chain" (tearing it again if the sentence on the
inside needs to be put in order).
- When the sentence is in order, worshipers will glue it to one of the "New Life" papers.
- Using the inside of the chain as the first line, and with Romans
6:4 as a guide, worshipers will write a prayer either remembering
baptism, or a prayer committing to a path towards baptism.
